The platform lets you perform complex calculations and fetch relevant data within a single or multiple sheets at once.

Smartsheet is loaded with team collaboration tools. You can build a library of files, loop in stakeholders for proofing, share attachments, and leave comments.
Admin control to share access is flexible and allows collaboration with internal and external users.
The platform supports file types such as .jpg, .png, .gif, .pdf, .docx, .pptx, and .xlsx and lets you upload content from Brandfolder, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, and more.
Dashboards
Dashboards in Smartsheet help you consolidate your work and build a visualization for the project's performance.
You can add interactive widgets, which are the building blocks of a dashboard. Some common widgets include reports, charts, metrics, images, and web content.
You can also share dashboards with users who might not have the actual report, allowing you to maintain complete control over privacy.
Workload Tracking
Workload tracking helps teams monitor team member’s availability and balance workloads, enhancing team performance.
Smartsheet provides you with a workload heat map as a visual snapshot of your team’s availability, while the workload schedule offers an expanded view of project assignments.
Rating: 7/10.
Smartsheet offers a good variety of features for project management. Many users find the platform very much customizable and easy to understand.
However, some aspects of Smartsheet need improvements, like adding hourly breakdowns in the Gantt chart or overall more customization options for boards, according to G2 reviews.
“In general, Smartsheet is a great platform, but I think there is some room for improvement on some of their existing features that would make it a 10/10 for me.” - G2 Review.
Smartsheet’s Interface: Is It Easy To Use?
Smartsheet’s interface – at first glance – looks easy to use and navigate.
Creating a board or chart was also very intuitive and offered many options for customization according to one's preferences.
Despite that, I found on G2 that the experience wasn’t the same for everyone.
Some users have noted that they would have wished for a better interface for CRM and text suggestion functions in the spreadsheets.
They explain that to customize a spreadsheet takes a lot of excess time, which could be used for other tasks regarding a project.
According to this G2 review, Smartsheet is more suitable for smaller businesses because of the platform’s overload with too much data from yearly spreadsheets.
“For our business, I wish Smartsheet had a better interface for CRM. We use it for this, but it clearly isn’t meant for it.” - G2 Review.

The platform is easy to use and navigate if you plan on using it for projects in smaller organizations, such as allocating tasks to your employees and then tracking progress.
But things can get messy when it comes to customizing the platform and setting up automations.

Smartsheet has been described as safe by popular security review websites, such as UpGuard, which gives it an A rating (829/950).
Smartsheet uses encryption to safeguard your information, helping you ensure that your projects and communications remain private and secure.
If you’re on Smartsheet’s Business and Enterprise plan, you will get access to:
- SSO.
- Group management.
- Account discovery.
It all sounds good on paper – until this G2 post was published a few weeks ago discussing Smartsheet’s security loopholes.
“Smartsheet sharing for Guests outside of our organization is a security concern for our company.” - G2 Review.
According to this G2 reviewer, not only are there concerns about the privacy measures of the platform, but customer service takes days to respond to users' concerns.

Despite Smartsheet’s best efforts to be a compliant and protected platform, there is still a security concern that they need to address.
The only loophole in Smartsheet’s security for now is its guest access to spreadsheets.

Smartsheet offers two connectors, Jira and Salesforce, that enable bi-directional data synchronization.
In addition to these, there are 100+ native integrations, including Google Workspace, Microsoft Teams, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Tableau.
